Anyone Ever Try Supplements (B6, Calcium, Magnesium, DMG) To Help Reduce Self Injury? Outcomes?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been doing a lot of research on the internet lately to see if there is any other natural things that may be of use to my severe autistic 13 yr old daughter for self injury. I have seen a lot of people try supplements B6, Calcium, Magnesium, & DMG and some have had a lot of success. Just wondering if anyone has tried these with their child? and the outcomes? Any negative effects?

I've given my son B6 and Magnesium together before. After a few months, it seemed to lesson his hyperactivity. I gave him DMG when he was younger, but I don't remember how well it worked.

Good School Districts In TX
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband received an offer for a government job in TX ( we can live anywhere in the state, where we live will determine which location he will work in) Our biggest concern is finding an appropriate school district for our son to make sure all of his needs are meet. I did research online and I get conflicting information. Some websites say TX is horrible for children with Autism others state its decent. My son's current school district in NJ is awesome. He gets all of his therapies in school… read more

How Do I Start Building Family And Friends Support Network?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone
We are at the very beginning of our journey... Since testing takes time, I wanted to be proactive and do as much as I can on my own and with help of our family and friends. How do I introduce them to the issue? How do I ask for appropriate help and support? What is the right thing to say and what is not? Is it ok to ask for monetary help (costs of therapy, dietary supplements, therapeutic accessories, etc) if yes, how to do so in a delicate manner
Thank you for all of your… read more

Moving For Better Services
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have set up my mind that it will be for my kids best interest to relocate to either Pennsylvania, New Jersey or New York, the reason I say it is because I live in Texas and my sons(ages 10,7) basically don't get any additional support besides what is given at school which I strongly believe its not enough. Schools are fine, I am happy so far with teachers. Another problem I have is that my husband is self employed(IT consultant) so he works on project to project basis which means he does not… read more

Any Advice On How To Help My Grandson With Staying Asleep Please. His Poor Parents Are Desperate. 5yrs And Barely A Full Nights Sleep
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

He’s 5 yrs old, formally diagnosed last year, talks but not clearly and has just started school. He goes to sleep well then after a few hrs he’s wide awake, just walking around and chatting in his own way. They are so tired, I’m afraid it may affect their marriage and this little boy (& his elder sister) needs both his parents together. Any suggestions please, they’ve tried many things including melatonin but it doesn’t seem to keep him asleep for any reasonable amount of time. Both parents work… read more

Foreign Language In School
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had any experience with their child with Asperger's Syndrome taking German in school? My older daughter took Spanish in high school (she also has Asperger's), but my son will be taking German and I am worried because it can be a very difficult language to learn.

Other Parent And School?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 12 yr old has been so bad at home and refusal school I had to make him go stay a few weeks at his dad's just a few miles down the road from me. He was making myself and his siblings late for school/work. My job already has me on a tight rope because of all of this so I'm trying to not loose my job at all. Well his dad came and picked him up and I judt had an iep meeting and found out his father has not taken him to school once since he's had him! Sadly for me. Years ago I fought my city hard… read more

I like how the school doesn’t hold the dad accountable and won’t give you an exception given that you didn’t do it. I hope you can find compassion for him on the money piece. Maybe there’s a way he… read more
