To Mainstream Or Not To Mainstream?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a question for parents who have or had a high functioning, fully verbal autistic preschooler. My little boy has been in ABA since March and has made amazing gains, so much so that there are days I feel he doesn't even fit his diagnosis anymore, or that he could lose it at some point. So much joint attention and interaction with us, his family, so much affection, eye contact, you name it. He has no behavior issues, and no sensory issues. He tested at 4 yrs old in receptive and expressive… read more

It wasn't as early as I would have liked it to be. He wasn't diagnosed until he was 5 1/2.

I was diagnosed with Autism shortly after he was. I felt that he was perfectly normal - and had sleep… read more

Can A Chiropractor Help My Son With ASD?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My MIL told me her chiropractor has a 9 year old patient that is coming for therapy for his autism. She says he was having trouble with wetting his pants during the day and focus and has improved in both areas. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this? Our son has ASD and has trouble with focus.

Thanks,

Amy

How To Get An Non-Verbal Autistic Child To Allow Front Teeth To Be Brushed.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Alright, My 16yo (to be 17yo) Son allows me to help brush all his teethe except his Front ones. I was able to get that far by Using a "spin Brush" and "Sensodyne" Toothpaste or another Toothpaste that is for Sensitive Teeth. Now we are stuck. We cannot get to the Front Teeth because the Tightens his Lips over those teeth. Has anyone a Suggestion to overcome this Behavior?

Maybe he just likes the way the brush feels on his lips? My baby girl has had ABA for brushing teeth. I just brush her lips first and then we do the teeth. It took a lot of work to get there but now… read more

Should I Consider ABA For My Son?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Very new to all of this....one of the recommendations my son rec'd w/ his diagnosis was to consider ABA therapy. Our insurance covers it (partial)...what does it entail? Is it worth it?

He just turned 4 (yesterday) and is in school for 1/2 days 5 days a week and in a preschool program for 1/2 day on Tues & Thurs.
