I'm in North highlands Ca & I so desperately need a dentist for my 3yr old Sophia. It's very very hard to get into her mouth for a good brushing & this has caused a cavity is there any dentists that know how to work with autistic children without holding her down I refuse to put her thru that but she needs to be seen ASAP Thanks in advance

"autism Friendly" Salons In The Boston MA Area
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Good morning

My son Diego is 5 and diagnosed with autism. Due to his sensory sensitivity (around his ears and neck) we have a hard time getting him to get a haircut. His last one was in November and very traumatic for him. I have goggled barbershop/salons that are good with autistic kids and have had no luck so far. We took him last summer to snip it’s (Peabody, MA) and it also didn’t go well. The lady wasn’t listening to us and didn’t know how to deal with kids with special needs. I was… read more

Can Anyone Offer Tips For Tooth Brushing?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Michael is 3 and it's a battle to get his teeth brushed. I'm sure I'm not doing a good enough job. He forces the brush out repeatedly and clamps his teeth down on it other times. It got better with an electric toothbrush, but still not great or easy. His Dr. recently recommended going back to a finger toothbrush. I got chewed on so badly I felt like I'd been attacked. Needless to say, I'm not going back in there like that again! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

electric toothbrush that plays music/ did Justin bieber for a grandchild// sugarfree gum can help get junk out of the back teeth, where they're less apt to put toothbrush

How Can I Get My 5yo , Non Verbal Autistc Son To Brush His Teeth?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

How can I get my 5yo autistic son to brush his teeth? He's completely non verbal, and he just bites the toothbrush, if I can even get it in his mouth. I've tried vibrating toothbrushes, the tooth brush song, and brushing mine at the same time, but he just won't let me. He will chew on the toothbrush when he has it himself, but only if it seems like no one is watching, and then he scrubs the floor with it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Finger toothbrush.......you may get bitten a few times but worth a try!!

Essential Oils
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have just started to use essential oils for my son. I was wondering how often a day can they be used? Is there a limit to how many times a day they can be used?

A MyAutismTeam Member

I'm professionally trained and so have a professional outlook on this question. It depends on the type of oil in a BIG way. There are many ways to use essential oils from diffusing in the air with a… read more
