Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. I have tired talking to DFCS where I live and got told they cant do anything because I have the child most of the time. What else can I do because… read more
It is a form of negligence called medical negligence, I believe, for a parent to not give meds. I’m shocked that DCFS won’t do anything! CPS? My ex is the same but my child is only on meds when she is… read more
Our son is smart, but difficult to get him to do his schoolwork/homework. He loves to work on the computer and I think this may inspire him. His teachers think it's a good idea, but we can't afford one now.
Look up free grants for ipads for children with autism. If your son's teachers can include letters of recommendations, it will help in the grant process.
My son is 3 and is severely delayed in speech. He is making progress and is good about communicating using gesture and the few words he does know. He knows all the letters by name, can write quite a few of them, and has even written words (without knowing what he wrote). I think he has a photographic memory. I was thinking of teaching him some written words as an additional form of communication. Any thoughts?
That's reassuring. My son is in first grade and frustrates very easily and is reading below level. Hopefully it will turn around for him like it did for your son.

Has anyone ever heard of Angel Sense? If u have have u tried it? My son will be starting classes in September with BCIU/early intervention and im worried how he will do and how teachers will treat him. It has a tracker if ur kid goes missing and u can even listen in on conversation wherever they are. It snaps to clothing or backpack. Wanted to know if its worth getting for the price and is it really reliable. Its rated 5 star's. Let me know what u guys think.
You could look into Apples Air Tags. They are really just for gps, and don’t have video or audio capabilities, but you can hang or place them almost anywhere. If your child has a tendency to take off… read more
I am absolutely lost. In Nov on the way home from the ASD screening appt I called my husband's insurance company to see how much they cover. During that call they said they don't cover anything related to Autism. Then they said we could file an appeal and have their doctor screen him, if he agreed with the diagnosis they would cover his therapies. So we got the bill yesterday for the screening appt and they paid nothing, and when my husband called them they said we could file as many appeals as… read more
The autism diagnosis is fine if that is what it actually is, but if the Dr is just writing that because they do not know what is going on that is not good.
I just want to mention that there are some… read more
So my son has become obsessed after seeing a Taekwondo demo with wanting to do this. He's 4 and this is literally all he can talk about now. Has anyone had any expierence with children with ASD in martial arts? Is there something we should ask up front when checking out places or look for?
My daughter started lessons this summer. I called and spoke to the owner first and explained the situation. Turns out they have a few kids there who also have autism. They are good with her, and she… read more
