Hey! I've not been on here for a very long time. Life gets crazy and you get wrapped up in it. I need some advice! My son is 11 and on the spectrum. He's going through hormonal changes and getting angry/frustrated quick. He's broken a laptop and tablet at school because of frustration and hit kids that were picking on him. I have heard that in 05/2013 they will be removing Aspergers and PDD-NOS from the DSM which basically then means that these children are no longer on the Autism Spectrum as they are too broad.
The diagnosis is not in the book but the way the new DSM-V is worded most current asd aspie pdd-nos rhetts etc children should remain on the spectrum. However you can self identify as such or keepā¦ read more

We moved to SW Virginia from the Northeast . In this area of the state, the public school educational system uses TEACCH as the basis of their curriculum with structured teaching to work with"the culture of autism".
We have been leery about this system and had stuck with ABA and DIR privately funded by us because in our son's prior preschool that has been working well as we went from non verbal limited interactions (graded moderate on the new proposed dsm scale) to verbal with attemptsā¦ read more

My wife wants have Nerotherapy sessions for my son who is 7 to help him with communication behavior ect. It is not covered by insurance. I think medication would be better. Has anyone used Nerotherapy before and if so how was your experience with it? Thank You
Donāt do it if you child has any signs of disassociation
My son just started something my wife is bringing him to for neurology for brain improvement. It's a six week therapy that is supposed to improve communication, behavior ect. If it does not work we will put him on medication to calm him down. Has anyone ever heard of this or used this treatment for autism? So, I saw this add for a program for our kids that claims 100% positive results. Apparently, it is tailored to each individual child to take specific steps to improve their behavior, diets, social skills, etc. without the use of ABA.
