It is time for my daughter to move on from the care of her Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician and we can't seemed to find anyone to move on to. Anyone have a recommendation for a doctor with some experience caring for adults with ASD in the Northeast PA area? Could even travel to Southern NY if we found a good doctor.
No none. Seems to be a non-existent field. I am continuing to search.
I'm currently living in Washington DC and my son is 13 attends K-12 home school program. I'm willing move and looking hard to find a school in Maryland and a summer program for him. I'm just so afraid to send him to a regular public school. Hes very shy loves drawing, but has no friends. I feel awful about that because he has told me he feels alone. It's been a long road for us finding good schools. I just really need some advice on what to do.
We are in Illinois, so I don't know how helpful my answers are - but here goes. Illinois school districts 54 and 211 have good programs for students with autism. This is in the northwest suburbs of… read more
My daughter is 18 quickly approaching 19. We are still seeing her pediatric neurodevelopmentalist and he has said there is no rush for her to move on but I do think we need to start looking. I have not heard of anyone in my area who specializes in adults with ASD. Do professionals in this area even exist?
We are having the same problem with our son who is 21. His pediatrician will see him till he is 22, which is soon approaching. We cannot find a GP who specializes in adults with autism.
Our family is planning to relocate to Fort Worth, Texas from Cleveland, Ohio. We are seeking advice on schools for our son. He will turn 5 in May and is a high functioning autistic boy diagnosed as twice exceptional (2e). So, we are seeking a place that will challenge the academic side while providing access to services to assist with social engagement, speech articulation, and fine motor development. We would greatly appreciate suggestions!
Thanks,
Charles

I'm looking for a school elementary in this area for my son. He's 8 years old and fairly high functioning.
I have two boys with HFA. However we are in a real life dilemma. My 20 yr old son is doing fine. But my 17 yr old son (almost 18 in August), is really struggling. He has been in and out of the hospital every month for Autism/ bipolar/psychosis/aggression. I am divorced and his father is not around much. Maybe a few hours a week. He too has HFA/Bipolar/adhd, and a drinking problem. Now back in 2011 I met someone and we began living with each other. It wasn't going too well in the relationship… read more
