I was told my youngest would be non verbal. I bought the book called Baby Signs (or something like that) and photocopied all the pages. I tapped them to a large wall in our kitchen. We used… read more
There's a documentary called "Spellers" about teaching nonverbal individuals how to communicate. Very life changing. God bless.
My daughter is 6yrs old and non verbal. She's beginning to mumble alot and repeat words. She loves to watch shows in different languages. Will this hinder her from learning her primary language first?
My non-verbal 10 year old really likes listening to other languages. I figure that any language is stimulating the parts of the brain used in language. It can only help.

Hello this is NOT a question about my child/ren.

My grandson is 11yrs old. He understands me perfectly when I speak to him. But he is non verbal. He hasn't been taught sign language or anything like that. Doesn't carry a laptop to type anything. He gets mad when I cant figure out what he wants or needs. He doesn't live with me but visits me every other weekend. I feel so frustrated. Then I start to think how he must feel. Is this typical with non verbal autistic children to not teach them any way to communicate

Trying to find other parents which children are also non-verbal like my daughter. Trying to just get advicence, recommendations, and ideas from them. My daughter having austism has been hard on me but the hardest part is her not talking at all. She only makes noises and even though I have figured out what's going on with her based on the tone of the noises she is making and using process of elimination. It's still very difficult especially when I see her upset at me because I just don't know… read more
