How do I stop my child from pinching my chest? He only does it in the spring and summer and I have tried everything from slapping hand to redirecting. Nothing works. When I tell him no or its unacceptable, he goes into a screaming fit and head bangs. I have had my mommy meltdown today and can use some advice.
LOL, it would be very difficult to not react to that :-) I know how hard it is. My son bites for attention sometimes, but never my breast... I feel for you, ugh!!! Glad you are figuring out… read more
I'm debating whether to take my 28 month old daughter to the movies. There's a. Summer series for $1. Has anyone been successful going to the movies with a 2 year old? She's not too sensitive to loud noises, but a movie may be too long.

Sometimes it's hard to help those closest to us understand what life is really like with raising a child on the spectrum. What do you wish they could better understand about your child?
I understand because they live in a typical world so naturally the answer is typical. We on the other hand live in a world where a simple transition can become a meltdown which sometimes leads to… read more
My son sweats even when he is just playing quietly in the house. He cannot stand for his hands to be sweaty and becomes very upset if they are not whiped off cleanly and quickly. I need a way to keep him and his hand cool and as sweat free as possible. He is 5 so I am worried about the deodorants but may consider them under supervision.
Vitamin d helped my child. Suggested by the therapist.
Has anybody tried this? Did you noticed a difference ?
YES! the GFCF diet did wonders for our son. Lifted the "fog" so to speak. Took about 3 months of consciously applying the diet but so very worth it.
Hello all I'm recently married to a single father that has two boys with ASD. While they are diagnosed and in a special needs program through the public school district I don't believe he is doing everything that he can to meet their needs. How do i approach him with what I think is best? (I am an elementary school teacher and I have some experience working with children on the spectrum and different strategies to use )
Thank you for your answers I will let you know how it is going once we all move in together this summer
I am the step mom of a 10 year old boy diagnosed 2 years ago on the Autism spectrum. He lives with his mom in PA, has the autism waiver in PA and attends public school there. He has an IEP, has special assistance from support teachers, has a periodic check in with an autism specialist from Vista outreach services (which specializes in Autism), and other support services through school. He is very high functioning, is in a regular classroom, gets Bs and Cs in grades and is very social. (He… read more
