Has anyone been a part of the Talisman Transitions program in Hendersonville, NC? My son is 20 years old, graduating from community college in the spring 2013, and will transfer to university in the near future. However, we would like to find out more about this program before he ages out of it.
TinaS: Did you son attend Talisman Transitions? My sister-in-law and I are caregivers for our niece and we are considering the program as well.
We tested positive for Down Synrome. A 1 in 35 chance. He does not have DS, he has Autism. I wondered if anyone else had a similar result?
Sorry, amnio...

Has anyone had any experience with their child with Asperger's Syndrome taking German in school? My older daughter took Spanish in high school (she also has Asperger's), but my son will be taking German and I am worried because it can be a very difficult language to learn.
You'd be surprised with Asperger Students and a foreign language. Usually they do very well.
How do u know if your child needs ABA?
It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

So, I saw this add for a program for our kids that claims 100% positive results. Apparently, it is tailored to each individual child to take specific steps to improve their behavior, diets, social skills, etc. without the use of ABA. I had a one on one call with the founder last week and she claims to have a daughter on the spectrum that has learned to thrive through her program and her website touts other testimonials of people who have seen social, emotional, and verbal improvements in their… read more

I am very over protective of my son. Been that way for his whole 13 years. Can never let him out front alone because he thinks of someone tells him their name, then they are his friend and he would leave with them. Hes older now but i fear taking the risk to see if he would still do this. Do you think being over protective his hindering him or keeping him safe?
Have you looked into special location devices that attach to back packs/clothing.I think sprint has something. My daughter was like that when she was younger I think she still might leave with someone… read more
