A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Today my 22-yr-old high functioning daughter on the spectrum returned to college. What will she do to potentially support herself after she completes her music performance degree? She has no clue. Neither do I. Any thoughts?

Anxiety In Car
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 5 year old son has always had anxiety when were all in the car driving and we stop to pick up something. He starts to hysterically cry when my wife leaves the car to get something from store. We're all in the car but he's just scared that she left the car. Now I'm thinking this is like typical separation anxiety a 1-2 y/o gets but he's 5 and he's been through this before. Anyone have any helpful advice o dealing with this scenario?

Talk To Me About Inclusion Classroom Vs. Separate Special Education Classes.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son turned 5 in July. He was in a PreK class for children with special needs last year, and placed in a multi-age special education classroom this year for grades K-5. I am somewhat uncomfortable with the placement because he is the youngest in his class and there are no other children his age there, all the other children are older. He is academically fine (knows colors, can add/subtract single digits, knows upper and lowercase letters, recognizes a handful pf sight words), but his fine… read more

Immunization
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm a first time mother. I need a little guidance. My son last visit to the doctor was Jan 2103 and I was told that all of his shots was up to date until age 4. Lately, parents have been taking their kids to the doctors for checkups before school starts. Am I missing something. Do I suppose to take my 3yr old son if, so for what?

Our ped office has us go back for yearly well checks even though my son is up to date on vaccines also. They do give us paperwork for daycare to show that he is up to date

What Was It Like After You Got The Diagnosis? What Was Helpful To You?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm an nanny to an amazing little girl who was just diagnosed with autism today. I have been with her for 6 months, and in that time I have done nothing but research and absorb information. I've been delving into the world of autism for some time now, but for Lillys parent, this is all very new. Are there any good books that would help them with this process? What was it like for you as a parent? What helped? I can only imagine what they are feeling.
