Good Schools In Irvine, California?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). The school has offered the basics, and not even OT! After sending letters she will finally have an assessment. She is transitioning to Kinder. At this point we are willing to move wherever services are… read more

Problems With Putting Too Much Food Into Mouth?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have a problem with their kids putting too much food in their mouth at once? Little Man will literally put almost an entire half sandwich in his mouth at once and then try to chew it up. Is this an autism/sensory thing? That possibility just occured to me today but I don't know if there's actually a connection there. Anyone else have experience with this?

Would You Consider Nail Biting And/or Sucking On Arms Or Skin (leaving Red Marks Behind) As Stimming? If So, Any Suggestions To Help Stop?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 5 year old son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS, OCD, SPD, tics, etc. He has a problem with his nails chipping or breaking easily. He also has hang nails often. He constantly is chewing on his nails, or I have noticed him sucking on his arms or hands until it leaves a red naek behind. Would you consider this as stimming? I am curious on your thoughts if I shoukd help him with a replacement of sorts? Is that a bad idea? Am I creating a desire to like and do this sensory input more? Or... Am… read more

Thank you for this question. My son has recently started biting his nails and I was very concerned with the infections it could potentially cause.

Need Help! Anyone Has An Idea On How To Get My 7 Yr Old To Eat?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son has been on this French fries and bacon(doesn't matter if it's pork or turkey) diet for three years now. The doctor told me just let him eat what he wants and he will grow tired of it... But come on I'm scared. It's so many things wrong with this as per it being a lot of cooking oil and fat. He's not a small child. He's about 4'2 and weighs 82lbs. The doctor gives him test to make sure everything is ok every 9-10 months, everything has been fine the entire time but he should be eating a… read more

How Do You Get Your Child To Try Different Foods?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 7 years old. He only eats certain. He simply refuses to eat foods that we eat. Right now dinner consists of pizza or chicken nugget and french fries. He loves some fruits so we give him as much as he would eat but definitely no veggies and the typical dinner foods. Any suggestions?

My Son Is Starting To Spit Out A Lot Of His Food?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

He use to be a great eater, now we are getting a lot of him spitting food out. Mainly a lot of meat, cheese, and starch. Basically he's just not wanting to swallow it. I've tried feeling all around his mouth and rubbing his throat to see if I see any signs of pain and notta. He's not doing this with all food, and he's having no issue drinking. It's just starting to become more and more frequent. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this? Doc appointments are two months out and I know she'll… read more
