I'm looking for a Dr. for my son in the St. Louis area who can "manage" his autism. In other words, look at what we're doing and give us suggestions for therapies and advice. My son is five, high-functioning, mild language delay, some stimming that we need help with, help with social skils, etc.
OT and speech/language. Most recent language eval. placed him in the low range of normal, which is giant progress for him. OT is mainly for fine motor. I'm specifically wondering if we need some ABA… read more
My 5 year old used to often put his hands in his mouth, mostly in new situations or when he was asked to do something challenging I think. But about 2 months ago, he started doing it all the time, regardless of the situation. His classmates don't want to be around him. His teacher is always telling him to wash his hands or put hand sanitizer on them. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I’m just now experiencing this with my 2 year old. He has Autism too and don’t know what to do.
Hey All! I am looking for ideas for a gluten free, dairy free drink for my 3yo son with ASD. I googled it and found OneSource- it is lactose free but made from milk. He is not lactose intolerant.. it is a full-on dairy allergy. No whey or casein so that isn't going to work. I know there has to be SOMETHING out there along the lines of Boost or Ensure.. with his autism he is VERY particular about what he will eat. I have him on a multivitamin but I feel like I need to do more. Any suggestions?
Don't even bother with the neocate...it just impossible to drink it taste awful...try other milks. Even thought it doesn't have many calories as ensure, they are really good for autistic kids. I will… read more

Fear not! I don’t know which way it will go, but the only person you need to check in with is his doctor. When my son was about 1 1/2 to 2, he would eat chicken, french toast, smiley fries, yogurt and… read more

We are considering sending my son to a very good school in New Jersey and moving there from New York. How are the services and benefits in New Jersey as compared to New York? Are the benefits comparable? we are relatively happy with the services in New York but schools in New Jersey seem much better.
I would like to know as well.
