how double standard is the fact that a.b.a providers cant be seen in public doing there therapy , why not its considered child abuse? wth is wrong here?
That does sound like it is specific to your provider. We also have community outings. Our ABA therapist spends as much time out of the office for visits than in the office.
I have a 14 yo and she really doesn't have one true friend , kids are mean and don't understand, just wonder what anyone does in this circumstance
You can look for social clubs for autistic children in your area.
Have a 18 year old would 12th grade year was a wash with goals that supposedly were master with 30-45 days after school started. Not trusting the district's transition program as I notice it's non academic mostly living skills such as community outings for knowing the bus and community knowledge like the library etc. No scheduling plan set up for the week.
@A MyAutismTeam Member thanks!!!
After many years of searching for funding and arguing with insurance, my children are finally receiving ABA therapy. I thought waiting and arguing with insurance was the hard part, but have found out coordinating the therapy is just as hard. I need some advice or just someone to talk too. Between all three of my children were are receiving 31 hrs weekly. I have a lot of people in and out of my house at all hours. I try to keep things clean and organized more then when we did not have regular… read more
I only have 1 child receiving ABA and she does a mix of center, home, and community outings sessions. In your situation with multiple kids, I would look for a center.
So, my Sweet Lily has been running through the house naked, every day, for the past two years. Just today, she decided to venture out into the garden, stark naked. Anyone else have a problem with their ASD littles stripping their clothes off at/in inappropriate places? Does it ever stop? Will I ever see the day when my child can successfully wear a complete outfit for longer than a trip to the local dollar shop?
My 30 yr old bro ALYAS naked in the home. ❤️😂
That's great.
My 16-year-old son has a recent ASD disgnosis (see my story to learn why he was diagnosed so late). I keep reading about ABA therapy. Is it something useful for a teenager? Or is he too old to get much out of that? If you think I should pursue it, what kind of benefits might I expect to see?
I have heard ABA helps with teens. Worth a try if you can get it.
Picky eater problems
Fear not! I don’t know which way it will go, but the only person you need to check in with is his doctor. When my son was about 1 1/2 to 2, he would eat chicken, french toast, smiley fries, yogurt and… read more
We have been suggested to get an ABA therapist to help with socializing. I don't see how an ABA can help with that. Can anyone give me examples of how it would help. We would be paying out of pocket.
If you find the right ABA it can do wonders.
Ours does a lot of reinforcement, they also do a lot of work together, doing activities and engaging in both preferred and nonpreferred activities.
