Anyone know of good public schools for a 4 yr old with autism in Dallas county?
Does anyone know if it's legal in the state of Texas to be forced to move to a first floor apartment because our downstairs neighbor keeps complaining of excessive running and jumping from my kids?? My son with autism is 4 but can't comprehend he needs to walk carefully. I also have a 2 year that never walks but runs!
I am not sure what the law is in Texas however if you are not sure contact the ADA they can advise you on what your rights are.
Has anyone had their autistic kid in a regular Montessori school??
Thank you :)
I am still all new to this and don't know much about all the info out there, since no one is helping me where I live. I home school my children so my ASD son will not be going to school. I would like to know what kind of therapist comes to your home for therapy? I do not want to put him in a special school. I live in FL if this helps. Thanks
You may want to look into centers specifically for therapy. We have a place locally called Birchtree that offers all services for home schooled children or children that cannot receive full services… read more
I like to bond and connect with my sons teachers, they’re after all the person my son will relly on for most of his day and it improves communication between us making it easier for me to help my son. Well this year my sons teacher always asks for the case manager to be present whenever I need to talk to her. I have told her that I don’t need her to be present but she still insists. She makes everything very official and communication isn’t great, my son even tells me he doesn’t like her.
What would happen if you just showed up at school and asked to observe your child's class?
I just wanted to chat with anyone, wondered how their children are doing in college, what support services their children are getting. I hope to hear from someone. Thanks
Wow, that is awesome! Reading this makes me so happy and hopeful, thank you for sharing.
My son is suppose to start kindergarten in August, I'm undecided between a private school or a public school. In a private school he would be in a mainstream classroom wih his aba therapist as his shadow. In a public school he would be in a special education classroom without his aba therapist. Does anyone has any experience in this matter? What do you think worked better?
I would seriously suggest taking a good look at both schools and take into consideration your child and the school district. No one knows your child like you do and you'll always be his strongest… read more
Has anybody tried this? Did you noticed a difference ?
YES! the GFCF diet did wonders for our son. Lifted the "fog" so to speak. Took about 3 months of consciously applying the diet but so very worth it.
My son was recently diagnosed with ADD and his doctor prescribed it to him, but because of the side effects Im not sure I should give it to him. He has a hard time paying attention in class and he’s very behind but at his own pace he’s able to learn. He’s a happy kid and Im afraid the medication will do more harm than good.
We recently started on methylphenidate here. His behavior was driving us all nuts. He is ten years old. He is much easier to be around now. My older kids are enjoying their younger brother more which… read more
My son was diagnosed with autism when he was 3. I never had a hard time accepting it and since then I put him in ABA therapy and it helped tremendously. I have a friend who's son just got diagnosed with autism and I see her trying many things with the hope that something will cure his son. Is it wrong that I don't do that?? I accept what he has, I try to help him but I know that there's no cure. Am I wrong to think like that?? Should I be trying different treatments also with the hope that… read more
