Hi there I have a 7 years old high functioning Aspergers and ADHD daughter. Has anyone got any ideas for me. As much as the other girls in her class want to play with her, she won't play with them as they don't want to play her games. She can't understand that if she wants to play with someone she has to join in their games and perhaps at some point they may play her game. I have done play acting out situations with her. It sounds like you have a handle on it all. Just be the Mom and go with your gut , it usually works out o.k. Keep strong
Initially, I always thought it would be best to have my ASD kid with NT kids, so he doesn't pick up any bad habits, etc.

Are there any others in Minnesota raising a girl on the spectrum. It seems to affect boys more, so playmates for girls can be hard to come by. We are raising an 8 year old non-verbal girl with ASD. She is a funny, sweet & beautiful drama princess. Is there anyone else finding it hard to find playdates for their girls on the spectrum??

Any STRUCTURED activity will help your child interact effectively with non-Spectrum kids; sports, scouts, etc.
Please suggest ways to expose my 3.5 year old son to other highly skilled 5-6 year old normal kids (boys) for increasing his play skills and language.
I'm SAH Mom. We need to focus on his social skill development. So looking for ways to get appropriate playdates.

My daughter with Asperger's, though she is high functioning, is 13 (Kat) and has no friends. She gets very upset when her younger sister who is 9 (Sarah) is invited to play at her friends house. There are times that they both are included but other times when the friend only wants to play with Sarah. I have a hard time dealing with the meltdowns, and tantrums that erupt from the both of them over these times.

Hi, we are moving to Chicago this summer and searching for a neighborhood with a good elementary school around. My son has moderate autism and has been thriving since he started ABA and special education at 3. Based on my research so far, it seems that we should not expect the same level of educational services from Chicago Public Schools as what we have now here in Boston.
