A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Now that my twin granddaughters are going to turn 18 in July, every govt program, every doctor, ever therapist, everybody is asking about guardianship and do we have it. It caught us off guard and totally by surprise. Does it involve money and what about those on SSI who have no money but need to file for guardianship? I live in Chicago and if any of you lovely parents know or can direct me or my family to the area where we apply, sign up for, speak to on all things guardianship....I sure would… read more

I have struggled immensely with their visits as they do not understand our parenting style, and in particular don't understand that our baby doesn't need to be touched or interrupted by them when he plays. My husband and I took 10m of parental leave and are very well attach to our baby. When the grandparents come to visit, I get so anxious that it impacts the mood of everyone. With my parents I am… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I want to make sure I have Liam on the correct waiting lists for Medicaid Waiver Services. There are 7 lists. As long as they are, I am wondering can I go ahead and get him on the ones for people over 21 even though he is not 21.....I know that I do not need to add him to the ones that have being deaf as a requirement. We are on the Home and Community based service waiting list and maybe 1 more but I have to check. Does anyone else who has dealt with Medicaid waiver lists in Texas know… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We have a 10 year old son with ASD. He steals whatever he wants with no remorse. He has been doing this for years. He steals food, candy, money, toys from stores. I have to do a pocket check if I take him shopping with me. If you ask him if stealing is wrong, he says yes. Yet the behavior goes on. What should we do?
