Very new to all of this....one of the recommendations my son rec'd w/ his diagnosis was to consider ABA therapy. Our insurance covers it (partial)...what does it entail? Is it worth it?
He just turned 4 (yesterday) and is in school for 1/2 days 5 days a week and in a preschool program for 1/2 day on Tues & Thurs.

My grandson puts himself to sleep by pulling on a sock with his mouth to start to untangle it until all of the threds are pulled out. What can I do to change this behavior.
Also, my 13-year-old grandson is home schooled and has no friends other than family and his puppy. Is there any kind of social activities he and others can attend? Are there any churches who may have Youth Meetings where kids can meet and greet, maybe dance and sing or play card and board games>

My 12 year old son (whose PDD), had a couple of students come up to him and explain why he doesn't have any friends, then during his math class he proceeded to get a pair of scissors and begin slicing his hands and a couple times on his cheek before someone caught him. I see other kids want a drivers license, hunting license, buying things related to their hobbies etc and taking steps to do it. Mine says she wants to drive but won't open the book, wants her HS diploma but won't do the work etc. I am very goal oriented so this is very hard to wrap my mind around.
Yes. And the “breaking things down” into just the first step, and doing that, then talking about the 2nd step and doing that, and so on, is great advice.
