Has Anyone's Child Been Obsessed With Car Rides?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son has autism and is 10. He has become obsessed with riding in the car. I'm thinking it has something to do with sensory needs. It seems to comfort him but it's a complete disruption to everyday life. Does anyone have any advice?

What Is The Best Park To Visit At Disney World With 2 Children On The Spectrum?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We are planning to visit Disney World in mid-December and I am at a loss for how to plan for such a trip since I am brand new to "this world". I am also having a hard time deciding which park might be the least overwhelming for my 2 children, one with Asperger's and one with ASD. A trip to the grocery store can be interesting to say the least for me so any insight on how to prepare the children for an 8 hour road trip, a stay in a hotel, and a Disney World visit would be very much… read more

Son Wants To Go On A Car Ride Daily
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our son is 20 and for several years he has wanted to go on a long or short car ride daily. He is not happy until he gets his daily ride and then he’s fine for the night or afternoon. Has anyone else experienced this strong desire for a ride in the car? Looking for alternatives that might provide the same sensory stimulation. Gas is pretty expensive and traffic not good in our area.

Would love to hear the experiences of others.

Car Rides
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 11 yr old daughter is severe and obsessed with car rides. She is constantly wanting to go on them and driving my husband and I nuts. We typically go on 4-5 daily. Each ride has to be a certain route and it has to be around 35 mins. If she doesn't get to go on one, she has horrific meltdowns. It's so expensive on gas, as well as wear and tear on our vehicles. Besides that, winter is coming and there's no way we want to continue driving her like this in the bad weather. We have a behavioral… read more

How Do I Get My Son To Be Willing To Go On More Rides At Disneyland.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Me and my wife got my 5 year old son a Disneyland season pass to try and help his sensory issues. The one main issue has been trying to get him to try new rides. Once he trys them he usually has fun but getting there is a battle sometimes. We also use the handicap fast pass that helps alot but its stressful dealing with full meltdowns everytime we try a new ride. It is also hard to plan out a schedule because it depends on the lines. Any advise if greatly appreciated.

We run into this all the time I will try and tell him this ride( space mt) is like the madahorn and you liked that right? And then he will go on most of the time. But also ask what about it does he… read more
