Help Ex Wont Give My Son His Meds.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. I have tired talking to DFCS where I live and got told they cant do anything because I have the child most of the time. What else can I do because… read more

It is a form of negligence called medical negligence, I believe, for a parent to not give meds. I’m shocked that DCFS won’t do anything! CPS? My ex is the same but my child is only on meds when she is… read more

ADHD?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Ok, so I had my sons IEP this week. All went well. The main concern was his lack of focus, unable to sit still throughout the day and just plain hyperactive. He will be 5 years old at the end of the month. The last IEP they did mention these concerns to us but me and my husband felt that at that time he was too young to be diagnosed, which also his doctor agreed. Anyway, now I am feeling that maybe the medicine if needed can help. I already made an appointment with his doctor for an evaluation… read more

Mother With ASD. How To Deal With In Laws
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am writing as I am a mum of a 10mo. We live in a different country that both set of grandparents. I have struggled immensely with their visits as they do not understand our parenting style, and in particular don't understand that our baby doesn't need to be touched or interrupted by them when he plays. My husband and I took 10m of parental leave and are very well attach to our baby. When the grandparents come to visit, I get so anxious that it impacts the mood of everyone. With my parents I am… read more

Does Anyone Have Any Experience With Giving Their Pre-schooler A Pediatric Dose Of Zoloft For Aggression?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My five year old son has recently been diagnosed with Autism and previous to this has had a diagnosis of global developmental delay & ADHD. He is already taking Quillivant XR for the ADHD. The psychologist suggested a prescription dose of Zoloft for him with the hopes that it could help his angry outbursts. He just gets so frustrated so quickly that at times it can make things very difficult. Before I go down that road, I just wanted to see if anyone has had experience with giving a young child… read more

It is comforting to them to know it didn't change. Lots about the world does not make sense. So confirming that things didn't change helps.

Is It ASD Or ADHD?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Who's diagnosis do you go with when all of your own research points to ASD and the psychiatrist says ASD and depression but the highly regarded children's hospital says ADHD and anxiety? This presents a problem between my husband and others in the family who aren't accepting of the ASD diagnosis.

Does Anyone Else Have An Issue With Their Child Wandering?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We have recently started to have an issue with our 3 year old wandering. Our house is locked down like an army camp (indoor and outdoor cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He seems to be drawn to water and other very dangerous situations. We moved about one month ago to our new home and last week he escaped around 7pm (after placing his shoes by the door which I believe was strategic), and made it about a block away. He will be 4 in April.

We had to secure windows in the upstairs of our home out of… read more
