Thanks for your reply. The program sounds great but my grandson lives in Dunedin. It wouldn't be feasible for my daughter to get him there and back due to her job. The few programs I found were in… read more

We live in Colorado where we have good services in schools and in private therapy for our 7-year-old ASD son. My husband has been offered a job in Scottsdale Arizona and I'm wondering if anyone knows the reputation of the schools in the area and outside services (ABA, OT, speech, etc). Are there any active groups or organizations specific to Scottsdale? Thanks in advance
thanks, good idea!
My son knows he has some problems. He was moved to a school that has a BD program. He wants to get better. He wants his brain to be normal. He feels alone a lot and needs to know he's not the only kid going through this. Are there any DVDs out there for him to watch to help him?
Wow you seen them in person! That's great!! I wish I could afford it. Maybe if they go on tour one day and come to west Virginia lol
HE has ASD PDD NOS, high functioning, ever since he started having friends over at the house he has not been as affectionate and all he cares about is his friends and their opinion of him. I asked him to put on his shoes while walking around the yard and he yelled "ok, woman". The new neighbor heard him and Im so mortified. We've been working on him to fix this problem, he does not do it so much with my husband but he disrespects me quite a bit. Help, any thought?
I have 2 grandsons, one with Aspergers who is 19and other is 18. The 18 calls me “old lady” smiling when he says it. Boys go through a tough guy stage in their teens and sometimes younger..The 19 yr… read more
Hi, I have a 3yr old son who is on the spectrum but I have not yet gotten a formal diagnosis am still waiting for dr. Childer's to open his appointment. I am new to Florida my son has medicaid however due to lack of resources he only gets 1 speech therapy a week and 1 OT every other week. A 30 min session per week does not do anything for him as he has sensory, language delay, lack of attention, doesn't feed himself, doesn't touch anything, very little joint attention list goes on. Please advice… read more

My son has high functioning autism and has extreme difficulty remembering things, such as, somebody telling him something or the days events at school. Has anybody else experienced this and how do you handle it?
I found out the my 10 y/o daugher has something called AFG (Audio Figure Ground) deficit. Find an Audiologist that can test for this. It affects her ability to focus in school as well as recall… read more
My son is 16 and was just diagnosed with Aspergers. He has been dating a girl for 2 years, but she lives over a hour away. Since they hardly see each other she doesn't realize the extent of his symptoms. My husband and I are extremely nervous on how to tell her and her parents the news. As anyone had experience in this? It will crush him if she breaks up with him because of this.
I would leave that decision to your son. 16 is a little too old for mom to disclose information like that without his consent, from a 16 year old's point of view anyway. I would be afraid you might… read more
My 7 year old (moderate to severe ASD) was completely toilet trained until about 6 months ago when he reverted back to 'pooping' in his underwear. He will not go in public but only at home (thank goodness). We are finding ourselves cleaning /showering him numerous times each day and are beginning to get frustrated with this ongoing issue. He will sometimes go on demand (we know he has to go as soon as he gets home from school), but he normally fights this by yelling or jumping up and down on the… read more
Had that issue too, except no pullups, cause he was too old for pull ups. We had to work with him on certain underwear he liked by letting him pick them out, ensuring he wasn't constipated after the… read more
