What do you encourage for independent play. Be have drawing and puzzles down but can't seem to find anything else she'll take interest in. She's almost 3 and electronics are not an option at this time.
Musicial instruments is a thought. I'd love for her to learn to play something. :)
Overnight diapers.

Children can't totally control their need to go until puberty I know it sounds far out but it's not really. I remember a kid in 4th grade had an accident in class kid terrorized him for it. I recall… read more
My daughter visits every few years and I also fly to her so I am not around my grandson often. He constantly runs to and climb to top of couch, jump, run up 6 stairs and jump to hardwood floor, then up to dresser climb up and jump then run over and grab his brothers soda and dump it. My daughter keeps usual routines, takes him swimming for a few hours but never slows down at all. She tells him to stop but he just continues on and on. If she takes away his little computer he Carries and uses it… read more
The reason he takes his clothes off is likely a sensory sensitivity to possible tags in the clothes or the fabric feels uncomfortable to him. Many ASD kids have sensitivity to various clothing… read more
Moving to South Bay (California). Does anyone know which school districts are most receptive to high functioning kids on the spectrum. Moved from Maryland, which was a battle to Kansas, whose school district was awesome. Thanks.
Thank you! This is so helpful!
I am bi-polar. I went to get tested for ADHD when my son finished breastfeeding. I expected my son to be hyper and difficult because every boy in my family always has been. It didn't occur to me that he was anything different then probably ADHD until he went for a year refusing to hug and/or kiss or receive affection from 30 months - 3.5 years. So, I was diagnosed bi-polar when the medication the doctor gave me (adderol) for ADHD stopped working. I am so happy that I went, because I would… read more
I am glad that I found your post. I, too, have bipolar disorder! :)
My daughter is excited about reading night at school tonight. Yesterday I told her that I was getting her tested for a problem with her handwriting in June and she started crying. I asked her why and she just says there’s a lot of things going on. And that she has counseling at school next Week. And just a lot of things coming up that she doesn’t really have to worry about right now and I told her that. I asked her why she was obsessed. She didn’t know. But she calmed down and said that she was… read more
She also gets anxious when I ask her to pick up things, put away her dishes, clean her room, or do her homework. Or when I do anything to correct her, like tell her to work on writing her u and 4.
My 7-year-old autistic son is high-functioning and goes to grade 1 in a regular school and regular class. He has some challenges with paying attention, sitting, and following some rules but he is doing well academically. His teacher has told us we should consider sending him to special classes in other schools. We feel that the teacher's advice is mostly for her comfort rather than the benefit of our child. Any advice on what should be our strategy toward this problem?
My son attends regular school, but he has a IEP (Individualized Education Plan) & other support/resources available for him. I think if the school can't accommodate your son's needs then consider… read more

I may have asked this before but I’m asking again because I’m desperate for answers. I’ve searched online and haven’t found any information on what I’m looking for.
What does boredom look like in your ASD kid? What actions do they do when they are bored? How can you tell? If they are not bored just under-stimulated, how do you explain to others the difference??
@A MyAutismTeam Member Thank you so much for your response! You literally described what our son does for sensory seeking that leads to pain seeking. He does all that. He hasn’t let up since we… read more
