One of my twin granddaughters would not talk in complete sentences but now 7 years later...she talks and speaks about everything. Doctors used to say she would never talk....but boy were they wrong.
My son is 5 years old and was diagnosed with autism at 20 months old. Until this year we never considered using medication. At the end of last year he started hitting, kicking, and biting when someone said no to him, or at times for no reasons at all. He has been on the GFCF diet for years and have also taken many supplements, but the aggression seems to be growing. We just fought to get him in a private school and he should be starting soon. I have been going back and forth in my mindā¦ read more
We have the same issue with my one 5 1/2 year old. He was just diagnosed with ADHD in addition to PDD-NOS. The doctor said some kiddos on the spectrum are more likely to be bipolar as well and some ofā¦ read more
I know I'm not alone in this, so have to ask
My son had not hit me during his aggression since right before and right after his diagnosis in October and November 2015
Then Friday night out of nowhere really can't pin point a trigger he was aggressive punch fridge then pillows and I see this look and he kept stepping towards me and then "boom now it's me"!
He was at my chin in 2015 even then couldn't restrain him he ended up on 3 hold total Sept to November 2015.

I have a 6, almost 7-year-old son with severe autism. For 5 years he's engaged in aggression and SIB. The frequency and intensity of these behaviors waxes and wanes, and we have little understanding as to why. We've tried all sorts of behavioral interventions, but the best we've managed to do is temporarily decrease aggression or to shift the topography (last year he was biting self and others; now he grabs and hits and scratches self and others). There are these really intense episodesā¦ read more

Does anyone else have a problem with their kids putting too much food in their mouth at once? Little Man will literally put almost an entire half sandwich in his mouth at once and then try to chew it up. Is this an autism/sensory thing? That possibility just occured to me today but I don't know if there's actually a connection there. Anyone else have experience with this?
@vwmommy-Unfortunately, one of the twin autistic females in our family who is 23yrs old has been doing this for 10 years. We constantly have to watch her because there have been a few times that allā¦ read more
"Just suppose," said Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, "there was a little kid who didn't speak words but only weird sounds?"
Does this sound familiar to anyone here? I came upon this great little book by Dr. Seuss and had to recommend it. Not only is it a fun read, but there is also a very, very important message for our kids. It's about being different and finding your niche in life. http://www.amazon.com/Gerald-McBoing-Boing-Litt...

My grandson is 11yrs old. He understands me perfectly when I speak to him. But he is non verbal. He hasn't been taught sign language or anything like that. Doesn't carry a laptop to type anything. He gets mad when I cant figure out what he wants or needs. He doesn't live with me but visits me every other weekend. I feel so frustrated. Then I start to think how he must feel. Is this typical with non verbal autistic children to not teach them any way to communicate
With a nonverbal child , itās important to give your child a choice. You find every means to give that child language . I chose sign language first. Why? Itās part of his body. Portable. The deafā¦ read more

Many children do this! Your son is not the only one. Some children hold it together at school ( they donāt want to stand out ) but when they get home they feel safe and let it all out.
