He’s 5 yrs old, formally diagnosed last year, talks but not clearly and has just started school. He goes to sleep well then after a few hrs he’s wide awake, just walking around and chatting in his own way. I have a 10 year old HF autistic dtr and we currently live in Columbus, Ohio. We are considering moving to Southern California this summer, but her education is going to be the determining factor on if we move and where we go.

We have had to fight with the schools here to get her an IEP. We have found that most teachers and specialist in the schools do not have a good understanding of HF autistic girls. Is this a common problem with the schools in California also? We finally did get an IEP… read more

My son is 10 years old and has mild autism. He has attended San Tan Elementary in Chandler AZ since kindergarden. It has has NOT served us well. He is wide awake between 4:45 - 6 every day. Comes into our bed and is straight away very aggressive - kick, nip, pull my hair, bang his head against mine continuously and totally strains himself. This could go on forever unless we get up/he has a screen infront of him. We have tried everything to get him to try and lie and relax. Does this sound like ADHD or the autism? Hey you any folks with older kids who toe walk? Has there been anything that has helped? Is there anything we need to be concerned about long term with feet/ joint pain or discomfort?

We may have to relocate from NY to the Carolina’s because my husband is getting promoted and it’s his dream job. The location is on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina so we can go either way. Most of the posts I saw are all from years ago so I’m not sure if it’s still the same there which doesn’t look to good or that have improved with the services.
