A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I googled infographics and sadly some of them actually had things like "often people with autism are gifted in music and art " and other such stereotypes
What would YOU like people who aren't on the ASD tip to know to help them interact with, understand people on the spectrum?

Why Does My Daughter Get Overwhelmed And Cry When I Tell Her Of Things Ahead Of Time?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is excited about reading night at school tonight. Yesterday I told her that I was getting her tested for a problem with her handwriting in June and she started crying. I asked her why and she just says there’s a lot of things going on. And that she has counseling at school next Week. And just a lot of things coming up that she doesn’t really have to worry about right now and I told her that. I asked her why she was obsessed. She didn’t know. But she calmed down and said that she was… read more

She also gets anxious when I ask her to pick up things, put away her dishes, clean her room, or do her homework. Or when I do anything to correct her, like tell her to work on writing her u and 4.

Eating Habits
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is almost three and nonverbal. He has not ate solid foods since he was one and a half. He only drinks from a bottle just milk but I do mix yogurts in them when I can get him to drink it. He also drinks PediaSure. His iron levels are good and he is healthy no problem with weight loss, sleep well and is active. I'm currently on a waiting list to get a diagnosis. He is fearful of anything coming near his mouth he doesn't put toys in his mouth, but he also doesn't allow us to brush his teeth… read more

4 Years Old Boy Humping Pillows And Gets Erection. Is This Normal?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have 4 years old under the spectrum. Since he was two years old he is humping pillows whenever the opportunity comes a home. He does not do such thing at daycare, but whenever he comes home from daycare, he eats and then start humping pillow on the bed. I saw he has erection. Is this normal?. Usually he does that for over 30 minutes. I do really need to know if anybody saw something like this in the past.

How Can I Distract My Son From His Constant Jumping??
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 2.5 year old jumps from the second he wakes up to the second he falls asleep after jumping in his crib. I’ve tried distracting with games/snacks and it works for a few minutes but then it’s right back to the jumping. It makes it very difficult at daycare & on play dates as well as trying to get his newborn brother to sleep as our house is very unsoundproof & the jumping shakes the whole house! Is there anyway to replace his jumping with a less obvious/disruptive behaviour?? Or to stop the… read more
